The walk

The walk starts from the Burn o' Vat visitor centre car park in the Muir of Dinnet National Nature Reserve and goes round in a loop. Footways and paths lead south-east to the south shore of Loch Kinord, 1.6 km out, and follow the shore east, then a track and a short stretch of minor road by New Kinord, 3.6 km out. The line then turns back west on a footway through birch woodland above the north shore, passing the Kinnord Cross, a carved Pictish stone, 5.1 km from the car park, and returns to the visitor centre.

It is 6.6 km (4.1 miles) with 29 m (100 ft) of ascent; allow about 1¾ hours. The grade is Easy.

NatureScot asks visitors to keep paddleboards, kayaks, canoes and inflatables off Loch Kinord from 1 March to 31 August, and off Loch Davan all year, to avoid disturbing wildlife. NatureScot's page says the toilets by the visitor centre are open all year.

OpenStreetMap has no fee tag on the visitor centre car park.
