The walk

The walk starts at the Linn of Dee car park and goes round in a circuit. A track and then a path run up Glen Dee, crossing the River Dee by White Bridge after 5 km, and reach Corrour bothy at about 14.5 km. Above the bothy a path climbs beside the Allt a' Choire Odhair into Coire Odhar and on to the Devil's Point (1,007 m), the rock buttress that stands over the bothy. Back at the bothy, cross the Dee by the footbridge and follow the Lairig Ghru path through Glen Luibeg, over the Luibeg Footbridge, past Derry Lodge and down Glen Lui to the car park.

It is 32.1 km with 716 m of ascent; allow about 10 hours. The grade is Strenuous because of its length: the paths are good and the climbing is modest, but the bothy is 14 km from the road and help is a long way off.

The Devil's Point is a steep rock buttress, and the path to its top is close to the drop: keep back from the edge, and in cloud or snow turn back rather than feel your way. The Glen Dee path crosses burns that have no bridge on the map, and they can be hard to cross after heavy rain or snowmelt; the Dee itself is bridged at White Bridge and at Corrour. In winter the corrie above the bothy holds snow. The Heading for the Scottish Hills stalking table lists no stalking issues on this National Trust for Scotland ground.

The Linn of Dee car park is a pay car park (OpenStreetMap lists a fee). Corrour bothy is an open shelter that the Mountain Bothies Association looks after.
